What Temps are okay.

Okay my veiled chameleon cage is hard to keep warm in the winter with the fluctuations in Temps in here. His basking temp is between 85 and 90. His only about 3 months I think 5-8 inches long. It goes to about 70 at the bottom of cage. I have 3 sides of screen cage covered with plastic. Just wanted to know if this is okay hes always at the top of his cage he's in a 24x24x48 any input? I just put a ceramic heater at bottom of cage in hopes of raising it a bit. It gets 65 at night. He's mildly active been fighting sickness

Hello Kboz1991,usually a 3 month old veiled baby doesn't need much higher temp like 90F,here is a general guide line below for the temperature
Baby/juvenile (<9 months): ambient 72-80F (22-26C), basking 85F (29C),Im pretty curious about ur cage set up,im trying to picture that in my head, but I think if you can take some pics to show us,it will be much better than my own imagination, until then, plz have fun with u and the cham, bye now:)

I have the ceramic heater at bottom so it raises up and 3 sides have this plastic to hold the water. He likes climing under the light I'm cool with it he stays away from the heated side. I have fake plants now till his umbrella plant gets here. I'm also setting up new cage for my new panther. I love these little guys

You risk a serious burn with that ceramic heater in the bottom of the cage. A serious burn. Can you find branches with tiny twigs at the ends? They prefer tiny twigs to big, smooth branches and dowels. They like to get their little hands around something. He would enjoy most branches smaller than a pencil. Just my 2 cents.

Awwww, very nice and interesting set up u got....i like ur muti stick set up, it remind me to hang my wet clothing on a sunny day:)
Could u tell me is there anyway to increase ur room temperature higher instead of u leave the light on the bottom of ur cage just in case it burns ur beautiful little chamy?do u use a heat source in that room with that cage location??these just my friendly thoughts:)

Yeah I have a little heater I'll just go ahead and keep that on 70 so I can take that off. They say panthers need a little bit higher heat correct? What should the heat be for them when they are babies. I'm still kinda new but I'm home all day after getting hit by a drunk driver last march and breaking just about everything lol. I don't mind any criticism I'm still learning I did a lot of research before I got them but there are keepers that have more knowledge so rather as them. I thought it looked pretty good from what I've seen from other pictures

I guess it's back to the drawing board lol. Might go in the woods and try to find a few and bake them and run them through the dowels I have there to give him a variety. Scared to take them out and have crickets squeezing out of the wholes
