What size cage should I get?

Mulberry is a 3 month old veiled and unfortunately is still being housed in a 10 gallon aquarium tank with a screen top. I want to get him a screen cage but am wondering which size to get. I'm looking at the DIY Cages and am trying to decide between the mid size and large. Mid size is 30 16 16, and large is 36 18 18.

Is it better to have a bigger one for him to grow into or should I get the one that's a bit smaller and if so how long until I will have to buy a bigger one again?

Thanks for the help!

I would say the smaller cage for now so you can monitor your cham better til it gets bigger, then upgrade to a bigger one once around 5-6 months

It's really up to you. Whatever cage size you get, just make sure he can catch his prey.

And what exactly do you mean by watching him more carefully? I want to get whatever is best for the chameleon but am hesitant to spend that much money if it won't last very long. Thanks for the help :)

What's meant by watching him more carefully, is if you end up getting the larger cage, just make sure he can hunt and catch his prey.

Thanks. That's what I had assumed but wanted to check. If I get the larger one about how long should that last until I will need to upgrade?

if you want to save up in a little money, then go ahead and get the big cage

i housed my 3 month old panther in the 18x30x36 cage from the kammers, i just put a small ficus plant in the corner for him to sleep and drink, and eveywhere else is just stick/vine pathways to climb around and he loved the space, plus this will be easier to free range because you can see all the crickets you put.

to me a big cage is only a problem when you put too much foilage/plants and cant see the cham, let alone his food that are crawling around.

he should be just fine:)

but if a cham is sick or a clumsly/ falls alot then get a smaller cage

heres a little idea I had that you can try out, You could order a large size zoomed reptabreeze which is 18x18x36. The floors in these cages are removable what you can do is build a pvc stand to raise the floor up 12" until he gets bigger.

Oh that sounds perfect! I think I will go with that then. Thanks so much!
