What should I use to paint my chameleons enclosure

I am currently building a new enclosure for my veiled chameleon because his current one is kind of small so I was wondering what paint should I use to paint it it is 35 inches tall 21 inches width 3 feet length

I use zero VOC latex acrylic on my wood frame cages

Was wondering the same i wanted to use stain to make it like a cherry wood but i dont know if thats safe..

I also have a few wooden cages I would like to stain , is minwax polycrylic safe ?

Not sure the poly acrylic will hold up. Spar urethane will work, several coats. Completely cured for several days to off gas the solvents. You could add a stain under urethane if you wish. Make sure the stain is completely dry. Remember water based won't typically stick to oil based products so don't mix them up.
