what should I expect during shedding?

My baby veiled, Ryu, was very dark in color this morning before I left for work and the skin around his mouth and feet was white. I assume he is starting to shed. I've never been through shedding before so I just want to know that to expect, what is normal behavior and what is cause for concern? Should I change anything in his enclosure to make sure it goes smoothly?

He is a 2 month old male veiled that I've had for about a week now. He appears to be very healthy. He is in a 54" x 24" x 24" enclosure with 1/4" mesh sides and a real ficus, he has a reptisun 10.0 uvb light, and an incandescent heat lamp, as well as a mist king automatic misting system. There is a temp gradient from 97°F to 73°F and the humidity is usually around 50%.

The first shed is always exciting to me. When they are young they usually shed very fast. As they get older my veileds have always shed in sections and have some shed going on somewhere just about all the time. IMHO 97 is to warm for a 2 month old. How are your feeding him? Does he cup feed? 54 inches would be a pretty large enclosure for him to find his food. What all are you feeding him? How do you gut load your feeders? I have a blog for new keepers linked below. I had noticed that he was hanging out low in the enclosure so I lowered the temp, his basking spot is 86 now and he seems to like it much better. Yes, I am cup feeding him he does eat out of the cup occasionally but I find that he isn't eating as frequently as I'd expect so I find myself taking him out a couple of times a day and he eats out of my hand, when I do hell usually eat 3-5 insects I'm a row. I'm trying to keep his primary food source 1/2" crickets gut loaded with bug burger, he will eat them occasionally but seems pretty picky about them. He loves meal worms and I've been feeling him more of those than I'd like, but it seems to be the only way to ensure he is eating enough. the meal worms are fed oats, potato, celery, and carrots. I always dust his food with calcium and I'm using calcium with D3 twice/month. I will certainly be checking out your blog today! Thank you for linking it
