ok im sure some of u know their is a hurricane coming and if it hits louisiana we will be leaving after the storm. how should i transport him and how long can he be out of food. im feeding him alot in case we have to go. i have 3 dogs, a beardie, a leopard gecko and two whites treefrogs. i can transport those easy, because we have a huge car, but i need some help to know how to get him there w/o dying of stress. i might leave, but prob not.

it may sound cruel but if you are just driving to a buddies or something out of the way of the hurricane. a few state over or wherever. i would probably put mine in some sort of dark place. so that all the cham would see is dark and that way it probably wouldnt stress so much as it would if you had him in a clear container with all sorts of new things to look at. i think a cardboard box with a stick in it so that he could grab onto it and couldnt see out. of it just make sure he has some ventilation, to breathe. and just feed him some worms in the box. but remember to get him into some sunlight, so he can digest properly.

for example when i bought my veild at the reptile show, they gave him to me in a paper sack, saying that he wouldnt stress because he couldnt see any movement around him, he was eating when i got him homw into his new cage if this makes a difference.

hope that helps.

good question

i was gonna put him in a cardboard box with a stick and give him some high moisture foods. ill only possibly be driving for six hours. btw i probably wont leave, because my house got no damage so my parents arent afraid to stay. even if it does flood, my house has 3 stories so no prob there.
edit: thanks for the info.

I had to this on tuesday due to a brush fire. I basically packed my chameleons in what I had available -- silkworm pods that coastalsilkworms send their silkworms in. I wish I had something bigger cause they didn't like being cramped in there. My snakes which are much bigger were packed in shoebox size rubbermaids with pre-drilled holes. I use to bring them on vacation in those. They seemed content. I wish I had saved the "pods" my chameleons were shipped in. It's a little bigger than silkworm pods and at least I could put a little branch in there.
