I am thinking of buying these chams :D and the owner does not know what species they are or if they are male or female..he had them from someone who didn't want them!! and knows nothing about them..

im not good at all with naming locales, ive never been involved with panthers before. but i would take a guess and by the rostral process and the colour, i would say a BB ambilobe female

Are you wanting real answers or is this a guessing game?

Any who, I can't tell, but that first chameleon doesn't look too great. Is it WC?

yeah i wanted to know the locale and sex of these before i decide to buy..what do you think is wrong with the first cham? doe's the second one look healthy enough to buy? they are c/b.

I agree, the first cham's eyes look a bit sunken in and that is not a good sign at all. It's coloration also makes it look sick. The second cham looks to be in great health, though.

which one is the ambilobe?

You cannot tell the locale by looking at it, we are all just guessing.

To me the 1st looks like a sick Ankaramy and the 2nd looks like an Ambilobe or an Ambanja. They are both males. How much are they? Cant you find a reputable chameleon breeder?

Don't buy them if you don't know what they are, or the breeder doesn't. I would walk away as soon as I saw that poor chameleon in the first picture.

First one does not look that healthy to be honest, looks stressed and dehydrated, where you gettting them from?

i hope to get the older one :D i have given the owner a bit of info and he appreciated it :) i think he wants to do what is right by these chams and don't think he has had them too long..wanted the younger one at first but i will go for the older one..

his friend gave them him and he really wants to look after them well, but doesn't have time to look after them and seems sad to be selling them..hence he wanted to give them a good home!!

If he really wanted to give them to a good home he wouldn't be selling them... he would be adopting them out and screening homes.

Either way you are putting a burden upon yourself. People have given you advice and it seems you are apt to get these chameleons and won't change your mind.

I hope you have the pocket change for a vet visit.

The guy who currently has the Chameleon speaking :

Hi Everyone, I'm the temporary owner of the Chameleons in question. Well I'm the guy who was given these Chameleons by a friend of a friend who went overseas of Australia. I offered to take them but upon reading up on the internet that a) they are the hardest lizards to care for and NOT for beginners (like me) and b) the actual previous owner didn't even have them in the right enclosures I thought the best thing to do is find someone who has experience with Chameleons and wants to buy them. Now I know that one of them is ill I'm really not looking for money for him anymore as it's going to cost time, money, experience, knowledge and possibilty even a vet visit to get him healthy again :(

Pektel (the original poster) sent me the link to this forum for my information. I'm currently unemployed and can't afford a) a proper enclosure that they need (remember I only found out the owner had them in the wrong enclosure) and b) I can't afford vet visit as I'm currently unemployed (darn recession).

I've had a few people contact me interested in taking the Chameleons but my main concern is finding someone who is able to care for them. Someone knowledgable and enthusastic about Chameleons.

I myself am big time into dog training and dog breeding so I know the importance of knowing what to do! If you don't take care of an animal properly you shouldn't really own one.

I'm glad to have found Pektel ( the original poster) as already she's been a big help and I'm glad to have found this forum now to with her help.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm all ears. The first Chameleon is dehydrated you've said so really I need to get him drinking more water. What else should I be doing to get him a bit healthier in the mean time. (short of finding an experienced Chameleon owner to take them off me! (which I'm in the process of doing already as you can see!)

Many thanks again. Simon. (currently very sad about his sick Chameleon) :(

If I were in your shoes I would either...

A) Read up on Panther Care, Water the chameleons(with a constant dripper) and feed crickets. After the holiday weekend, ship them to an experienced keeper, for a small fee, someone that can provide vet care. I'm sure there are many people on here that can help with that.

B) Read up on Panther Care and take them to the vet yourself soon.
