What on earth?

Can anyone tell me what the purple coloured mark on my veiled's lower arm is? Could it be a bruise and how would he get one? I handle him only occasionally and am very gentle. Also, I have never seen him fall so how did this happen? The mark appeared a few days ago and was definitely not there before. I have attached pics to make for easier analysis.

The pictures are pretty little. Can you use big files? They will display in your reply as "thumbnails" that enlarge to full size when clicked.

In order to attach files, you have to click "post reply". You cannot attach files in the "quick reply" box.

I tried to attach big pictures but it keeps telling me the file size is too big. How do I get around this?

the easiest way is to use photobucket, if you dont have an account you can set one up for free...upload your pics on there and copy the IMG code ad just past it in the reply and it will pop up without attaching a file...and if you have an iphone (and probably droid) you can get a free photobucket app and just upload pictures to your account straight from your phones photo library...or just try resizing the file to attach it...there is a key that shows you the accepted file sizes

Ok, so I hv sorted the photobucket account out, just need to upload photos quickly. Give me a few minutes...

My guess would be it's a bruise. They can get bruises the same way we do: bumping into things. They also can fall when we're not looking.

I would keep an eye on it. It's somewhat possible that it's a burn and if the skin starts to look damaged you'll want to put an antibiotic ointment on it.

If it is a bruise, and it looks like it is one, try doing daily showers. my veieled Kink somehow bruised the last half inch of his tail and it looked similar to that. I put himin the shower once a day for 3 days for about 15 minutes and it made the bruise subside alot.
Side note- if you dont know how to shower them, here's how- put a plant in the shower, lukewarm water and aim the shower head towards the wall so that the water bounces off of it, place the plant in the way of the mist coming off the wall, make sure you stay ther with him.
Also, be prepared for the bruise to takea long time to heal. it took Kink almost 2 months for his bruise to go away, and the kink in his tail from however he injured it. (thus his name ;)

Good luck and dont fret, they bruise, it heals, it goes away.

Thanks, I will try the shower. Have never done it before so it should prove interesting. What if he tries to get off the plant or escape from the water?

more than likely he wont move too much, if he does just catch him haha...glad you figured out how to use photobucket :D
