Whats the minimal age range to begin breeding? :)

i typically try and wait until they have had one infertile clutch, then i build them back and breed when they're receptive again. kind of like not spaying your dog until after at least one heat cycle. and exposure to males will often bring about that initial clutch.

most of my chams do that and lay that first clutch @ 9-11 months. which means that i'll breed them about 3 months after that. but if i do have one that's older, healthy and has not laid yet, i would still feel comfortable breeding her.

for male and female? or just female?

i assumed female based on the photo. as for a male, if they know what they're doing at a younger age i have no problems breeding them as early as 8 months or so. some are still clueless and have no interest, some have too much interest and no manners so i remove them, but if they're head bobbing and seducing her correctly, i let the cougar have her day.

How do you do this initial exposure? Put them in the same cage and observe them? If they are in the same room will he cause her to produce eggs? I have a 9 mo old female and she has never laid. My male is 5 mo

it's generally considered bad form to have chams able to see each other constantly no matter what the sex; however, some folks put their cages near each other for a few days to see how they are reacting towards each other. what i'll typically do is take a male who reacts positively towards females (head bobbing, coloring up) and just let them eyeball each other for a minute or two with me holding the male. often the female will gape and darken as she's not ready for breeding, some will remain placid as they are possibly ready or just curious. but doing this a few times a week over a period of time seems to stimulate the female into a breeding mode.

please remember that as i am intentionally breeding a lot of chams this is a good strategy for me. but my females will unfortunately likely have a lesser life span than one who is not being stimulated like this. if they are meant as pets or maybe you just want to try and breed them one time, i wouldn't advise doing this as it definitely will cause more breeding stress on the female in the long run.

I would like to attemp breeding one time with my chameleons. How do you suggest going about this when they are of age? Any good links?
