what UVB lights have we decided are ok? My 18" hood melted last night and i need to run out to get reptar another UVB light and wondering besides the linear tube what was ok? I remember reading someone had a new bulb that was ok and i was just wondering what it was. Ill end up spending $50 or better around here for a new 18" setup so i figure i might as well explore my options

my problem is i leave tomorrow night for christmas vacation and dont have time to wait for shipping and dont have time to drive down to LLL and get everything cheap.

You can try PetCo or Petsmart they carry ReptiSun 5.0 but that are twice as much.

What caused your hood to melt? Why are you replacing the bulb if the hood melted? Just curious.

I think what it means by a "new light" is the whole thing, hood and bulb. Just guessing.

a 95 watt heat light whose clamp let go and therefore the plastic LLL hood have a hot bulb laying directly on it for the better part of 3 hours while i slept. When i got it apart the plastic was melted to the 5.0 bulb and in the process of breaking it loose it took a nice chip out of the bulb

i found a herp store around here that had the bulb for 18 and i got a hood for 7 so i didnt get hit too bad
