what kinda panther?

He looks a little older than 4.. possibly in the 5-6 month range.. He doesn't necessarily have to fire up.. Just get him in the sun and he'll lighten up.

So panthers cannot be identified by markings? I bought him from a local shop in Houston and they couldn't tell me anything other than assuring me that he was male...

He is male, but you cant really identify one by markings. Yes, different locales have some sort of differences in the barring, but mainly its coloration. If you bought him from a pet store, there is also the chance that he is a cross of locales, so anything we can offer is just an educated guess.

If you have other pictures, post them and I'll see if I can narrow down the list for you.

I really appreciate ur input. Ill try and get some sun basking pix soon...

He looks like my ambilobe when he was little, sort of brown and green. He outgrew that at like 7-8 months. But that's just a guess, it's hard to tell from his colors in that photo.

So far your best bet is that you have an ambilobe or a ambilobe cross. from what i can determine by the pics but overall you will have to welait when he is a little older and his real colors come out to really narrow out what you have.... honestly the "y-bar" and green background resembles to ambilobe which are vety common
