What kind of stick insect do I have?

Yesterday I got some stick insects at NARBC. It's my first time finding this type of bug and I'm very excited to be able to offer them to my chameleon. I was curious if anyone knows what type (species) this is. The gentleman who sold them was unsure and I'm having trouble trying to ID them through online pictures. I thought maybe someone here would know. Knowing the species will help me determine care and how easily I can breed them. Thanks!

Looks like Indian or Vietnamese walking sticks to me. They will reproduce on there own as they are parthenogenetic. They eat rose leaves, bramble, I'm not to sure about oak though. The eggs incubate for a few month and hatch they lay tons of eggs. Just put them in a glad container on top of moist paper towel and mist every other day.

Great! Thank you. I suspected Indian since they are very common. They just didn't look to me quite like the pictures I was finding online.

Indian is what it looks like.
if they move really fast when you touch them, you have Pink Wings. Pink Wings are a bit too fast for kids to feel comfortable having them race up the arm, and up the face, but they probably trigger feeding better.
Email me at [email protected], and I will send you an Indian Care sheet.:D

I would sure like to get ahold of some of them. I'm in California though :(. Can anyone tell me where I might be able to get ahold of some?

If you have time swing by the Sacramento reptile expo next weekend on the 28th & 29th.

I'm sure there will be a variety of feeder insects for sale at the show.

Yeah, but nobody will have stick insects. They're illegal to buy and sell in California because they're considered a pest. They only way to get them is to find them in the wild. I'm in Bakersfield and I've never seen one here.
