No problem..
Like i said it appears to be a senegal or graceful. may want to look up pix of those to compare.

also, it appears to be female, and very unhappy at that .

It Doesn't look like a Senegal to me. It appears to be a graceful with that little scooped casque. My girl has never shown pattern like that either. Just some input hope it helps. I'd say graceful though for sure.

How do I know when it is happy or not - the patterns seems to concern you? is this an 'unhappy' pattern?

Do you some one of the same breed?

Not currently but I have kept them in the past. The Flapnecks are fairly easy to keep and I kept mine with similar requirements as a Veiled Chameleon. Here are a few websites to get you started but certainly don’t be shy about asking questions.

That black pattern does indicate that he is stressed by something. I'm assuming he is a new? Chameleons in general are shy and nervous so if he is a new pet he is probably a little scared. This is normal. Once he figures out that you are not going to eat him he will calm down. I recommend not handling or interacting with him for the first few weeks. Let him watch you and learn your habits and he will start to feel more safe.
