Might be some type of Mealybug I saw something that looked like that running all over the Hibiscus at a Home Depot. I went to Lowes that day instead.

That stuff is spotted all over the tree in my courtyard. I it's some type of sap. I know some types of plants can be toxic when they start milking if that's what it is.

mealy bug

this is definatly mealy bug.
i work in a garden center and thats what it is.
the only way to get rid of them is to hose off the plant every 3 days with water and dish soap if its a bad case if not you have to dab the bugs with rubbing alcohol, the best thing to do is to just get rid of the plant and get a new one. the bugs spread like wild fire.
hope this helps

Thanks for the reply. I hate to get rid of the plant. So just dab them with alcohol? Where do they come from, something in my house? This plant was suree to have insecticide on it. At the store. Are they harmful to the cham?

I looked these things up and the web says one way of riding of them is using lecanicillium which seems to be some kind of fungi. Anyone heard of this? Or should I just leave them alone unless it gets real bad? I've only seen 2 on the plant.
