What is the most rare chameleon?

I am under the empression it is the Nosy Faly breed, any one else think differently?

With the high demand for them and them really only being a locale that was recently discovered in the hobby, Nosy Faly's (Oorana Mena) are definitely top of the list as far as most sought after/rare of the Furcifer pardalis, along with the Mitsio probably. They are not imported in the quantities that other locales are. However, I don't believe that you can consider these two the most rare chameleons that people keep. Most rare chameleons are protected species, but there are rare forms out there that do exist in captivity.

Well obviously there are more rare if they are endangered or protected species, but i am refering to species that are being sold.

all calluma species, are not allowed to be exported, along with a probably a few others...

jacksonii jacksonii is one of them.

parsons are one of those rare species... perhaps not the rarest but who knows.

trace is like the only person within the US continent/canada that has gotzei..

so it all depends on your perception of rarest.

There are over 200 species and subspecies of chameleon and we only see about 25% of those in captivity. Many of those species are not found in captivity at all and there are some of those species that are only known from a single specimen ever. Ch. eistentrauti is unusual but not the rarest, in my opinion. Species such as K. uluguruensis, F. belalandaensis, Ch. (T.) tremperi, etc., are far rarer.

have someone here pics of those chamaeleons? ( Chamaeleo eisentrauti and the others)
Chamaeleo namaquensis is very rare and strong chamaeleons.
I had 1.3 jacksonii jacksonii for couples of months ago

while i am sure there are a lot of rare chameleons I would have to say one of the rarer ones are the translucent veileds. While there is a pretty good availability at the moment. They aren't offered that often and when translucents make babies, not all their babies will be translucent.

I know its not "the" rarest, but they are pretty rare

Isn't C. campani really rare?? just guessing and isn't Brookesia Permanta also??

oh i have a jackson, but i dont know if its the jacksonii??

also what do the numbers mean? i noticed a lot of people say 1.3 or sumthing infront of the cham name..??

B. perarmata is from a limited range and was very heavily harvested for the pet trade before they were protected. F. campani is uncommon and not exported into captivity. Neither are as rare as species such as K. uluguruensis, F. belalandaensis, Ch. (T.) tremperi, etc., though. Ch. (T.) tremperi was described based on museum specimens and has never been seen live since. It is considered to likely be extinct. K. uluguruensis is known from 6 specimens ever. F. belalandaensis is only known from a handful of specimens as well.

I think we're talking into two directions; one group talks about Chameleons in captivity, and the other group about Chameleons in general.
By the way: A Translucent Chamaeleo calyptratus isn't rare - it's just Chamaeleo calytratus with a genetic defect.
