What is the Kinyongia Cult?

I'm not stroking my ego. Fearaffect mentioned to have titles and it sounded neat for a cult and we went forward with it. We have founded this group/cult on common interests now that you bring up that point. If your interested to see how the Kinyongia Cult started read this thread.

Since we decided to go ahead with the cult title why not have titles that are distinguished for all members. It is similar to fraternities having titles and structure for members. Experience member are going to be recognized in this group. It is by all means not a knock to have a title in this group.

Sorry, that is just what vibe I get from the titles and everything. Maybe Im wrong but if thats what I get from it then more than likely others will see it the same and would deter them from wanting to join.

I think Chris' suggestion would be the way to go.

I don't understand you feeling you are new when you joined in 2009, what am I missing?

I guess I can't join the club, I am sending my last tav back to Jared. That will put me out of them for good - I think.

think she meant to the cult :p

Yeah, that's right....

fearaffect isnt a girl.

So, I'm now informed, I was confused by a "short form name" which looked like a female name to me...proving I'm ancient as obviously I don't know modern names....

Why not use the Kinyongia forum in the advanced keepers section? That's what that was created for afterall.

From my experiences on other forums, members of groups still post regularly on the forums sections however posting with the establishment of a group conversations go to another more detailed and more cordial level. These posts normally go beyond normal posts detail and have got more structure to them as well. One of the main goals of this group "The Kinyongia Cult" is captive breeding this genus and a group would be more ideal to organizing this endeavor than just using the Kinyongia heading alone.

Here is what I posted in the social groups thread. PLease read the quote too:

Throughout the formation of the Kinyongia Cult I have been fully aware that we need and want chameleonforums.com to be our home. We currently communicate via email because we can not yet send mass PM's but we would rather do all that via this site. That said, we do deserve a bit of privacy! Here is a communication between me and an important person here:

Ok so the most important objective is to just generate interest. I think that having all the Kinyongia keepers in one place makes the whole genus more noticeable.

Chameleonforums members will take the genus more seriously when they see there actually IS a substantial number of people keeping Kinyongia.

Non-members who keep Kinyongia are more likely to stick around if they can clearly see that there is a place for them. If someone searches "Kinyongia" on google they may never even find this site but once the club is established it will probably be the first link!

I have already been contacted by several outsiders with 0 - 5 posts who are shocked and delighted to connect with another Kinyongia keeper. Unfortunately many of them do not stay in touch so hopefully the club can keep them here.

To make this happen we will do several little things:
Design a logo, expand and share more via members' blogs and profiles, post more photos, fill out the species database, basically just create content to establish and solidify Kinyongia's place on the internet. I have already been doing this full force for a few months now.

Once we have the attention of the online chameleon community we can focus on establishing a solid CB population to reduce the number of imports.

To do this we have members like Chris Anderson and we will get other experts. They will provide guidance on what species are our best targets. My idea was to have Chris suggest just one species that we can obtain ethically that will really benefit from a CB project and just push the group to throw everything we have at it.

I'll stop here for now. What do you think?

Wow.. I've been gone without internet access since tuesday night. I have had a lot of reading to do when i got back to keep up with these threads.

I for one am glad this is starting up. I got interested in Kinyongia awhile ago, but didnt think hardly anyone kept them. I rarely saw a signature that had anything to do with kinyongia. When i read a thread about Seeco breeding K. Multi i pm'd him right then to get put on a "waiting list" for his next clutch. I have been pming him since july about care and different things.

Now that this has started, I've "met" more people that have a lot of experience with Kinyongia. As well as people in the same boat as me. Where before the cult, i only knew of 2 or 3..

I love the idea of the "cult" or group, whatever you'd like to call it. My understanding which I believe is correct is this has been established for those of us who own, are interested in, or plan to own a chameleon from the Kinyongia genus.

Being relatively new to the genus it was painstaking to find info about my Multituberculata, basically I stalked certain individuals (you know who you are) and asked many, many questions. With having this cult we can all be involved in expanding knowledge and having more info out there.

Exactly. I think I've cyber-stalked the same person that you have since the begining part of this year! Not only because he (Seeco) is very knowlegable about multituberculata, but because there is very little good solid information for keeping them that is based on solid experience. Everything (what little) I found is very generalized. My tiny contribution that I'm getting together ( because through researching, I found zip) is I have been filling in a chart I've made documenting the humidity and temperature level of my clutch of multituberculata eggs 3 times per 24 hour period. IF I achieve success hatching these eggs, I can then either post or publish (so to speak) averages or all readings I accrue to establish acceptable parameters in regards to incubation temperature/humidity. I did this because the only 2 bits of info I found online was somewhat contridicting of each other. Making notes on observations are important to me, and maybe one day it can help someone who is new to this species as I am now.
