What is the first hting to do post-shipment?

They want OUT immediately, so I have everything set up for them before package arrives. As soon as I let mine out I put them in their enclosure if it's what they want. My current Cham wanted to explore ME at first when he arrived so I let him crawl on me a bit. I opened the box in a quiet area and as quick as possible cuz I was so worried about them! Lol

I don't think there's a "set in stone" method of unpacking your new cham but,,, what I do is take the container, put it in the cage and let him/her get out on their own will. I'm sure the transit was weird enough for them and having a stranger handle them would just add more stress. As far as misting and feeding goes, you could pre-mist the cage prior to releasing it to reduce direct interaction and help it acclimate better. I'd wait a few hours before offering anything to eat. That's what I do, but others will probably have other ways of doing it. Bottom line is just to induce the least amount of stress to your cham.

if its a baby set the container that he or she is in on the bottom of the cage open it and let him climb out on his or her own. i know from experience trying to place them on a branch they can get a little to anxious and miss step and fall. enjoy and take pics we love seeing little babies on here.

Either way doesnt really matter. Either let them climb out or you take em out and immed put them in pre set up cage. Dont wait for them to arrive to set up their enclosure is the main thing. Have your temps and uvb all set and checked out. Have your dripper or mist system ready and filled. Have your feeders ready and gutloaded.
I personally take mine out briefly look them over for bumps bruises, anything physically wrong with them that could happen during shipping. Check quicly for eye issues and check all limbs and joints. If i see anything funny or wrong I immed call or email the breeder or importer. That way i can say the cham arrived at X time and I notified you immed of this issue. Just good for you and the breeder. I take pics if I see anything wrong at all. Inc. busted up box or poor shipping practices.
Once in the cage I immed give them a looooong hand misting til i see them start drinking if possible. Then leave them the hell alone for the rest of the day other than occas mistings to help w/hydration. Feed the next morning and they should be hungry and ready to eat.

for the next time you have an animal shipped. you
1) take it out and place it in the cage
2) give it a good long and heavy mistdown and offer some food (depending on your lights out, and the time of day it already is)
3) leave the animal be in privacy with little to no contact for the next 4-7 days
