What does soaking a chameleon do?

Hey so my vet recommended lukewarm soaks for fig 2 times a week and I was just curious as to what it does for the little guy?

Yeah like Is it to help with shedding, or like skin hydration?

Yes and I am also aware that they are dry shedders that’s why im asking what’s the purpose of soaking him.

What did vet says the purpose was. Warm water can lead to shock burns and stress from soaking. So if vet said to with no reason might need new vet

Putting a chameleon on a plant in the shower in cool water can help stimulate drinking and hydration. But that shouldn't be necessary as you can do extra misting or drippers in the enclosure or feed hornworms for hydration. Easier.

Soaking a chameleon in warm water would do more harm than good - might burn the chameleon or interfere with a shed.

Time for a new vet, IMO.

I wouldn't put one in shower either. It will stress burns.
