what does it mean when the cham turns to dark green in the basking spot ?

They absorb more heat through dark colors. Thats totaly normal.
When they're hot they turn very light, and when too hot they open their mouth and trying to cool down.

Make sure basking spot is around 30-33°C and ambient temp lower.
