What do you think the best bulb is to use?

What do you guys think the best UVA/UVB bulb to use? She lives in a 4 1/2-5 ft hibiscus tree with no screen enclosure. I was thinking of getting a second Reptisun 5.0 bulb and having two. Or do you think one is fine or is there another bulb I should be using?

She is Amelia and she is a 8 month old female Veild Chameleon.

I don't think you will need another UVB light for the cage size you have. But do you have a separate basking spot with a heat lamp?

yes. I use 100 watt basking bulb. I use to use two and had two different basking spots since she has no enclosure just the tree and i was worried about the temp but she seems to be fine with just the one.

Oh. Sorry. I didn't get it at first. So you keep her without enclosure.

That's okay. Yes I keep her without enclosure, so far so good and its been 2 months. Although i do wonder if its okay to do since i notice not many other people do and there is usually a reason for this.

its called "free-ranging" and some of us do it


it is generally for more advanced keepers since it is harder to monitor their light exposure/feeding and of course....they tend to wander off ^^

This is my first chameleon and I don't plan on being without one ever again haha I love taking care of her but do you think since I am sort of new i shouldn't be free-ranging? She seems to be doing better since I lost the tank, much more active.

She does wonder from time to time right up the arm of the couch and up to the top of the curtains hahaha its very funny because you can tell she thinks shes slick. Its very cute.
