i found this on craigslist in my area. the guy said he payed 1100 for it. I want to try and duplicate it but with a partition so i can house a male and female.

has anyone built something similar and provide me material cost for this?

Well if ur gonna split it in 2 id make it wider. so its at least 4 ft. Wide. Given its made of pine. With all lumber hardware (fancy knobs and hinges included) stain, water proofer, silicone, glass(more expensive) plexiglass (scratches easy) ur probably in the 400-600 dollar range.given how thrifty of a shopper u are.. use screen will save u. Take a look at maxtus thread https://www.chameleonforums.com/vanity-drainage-project-90963/?highlight=vanity that's cheap and looks amazing. and may be a good start for some ideas. U could always build ur own cage with glass or w/e to add to the top instead of a premade cage

I agree about the width. Without knowing the dimensions of the cage in the pic I can't really think this would house more than 1 cham. You'd end up with two really narrow habitats that don't provide much roaming space other than straight up or down. Also, the larger potted plants you would want may not be easy to find. Any you buy would probably have to be pruned so severely that they won't offer much leaf cover below the very top near the lights. We always talk about cham cages being more vertially oriented than horizontal, but I really think you'd need more width to make this work as a divided space.

Maybe this is just my personal preference, but I would rather build more generous functional cages with no "furniture finish" details (no woodwork, finish hardware, hiding electricals from view). I like minimal frames or screen panels, almost nothing closed in, not bothering to hide the lamps, foggers, etc. because it helps the cage disappear in the room while showcasing the plants and the cham. And, closed in spaces harbor mold and moisture, may have reduced air flow and the overall light level for plants, are harder to keep clean, and can warp or stain.

the enclosure is made of screen and not glass. and yes i have seen his thread floating around. i like how he put the plant pot in there and i was thinking that if i build this i would do the same in each enclosure. i would probly make the enclosure around 5 feet wide and 4 feet tall and 2 feet deep. i really like the light hood, everything can be hidden including the misting hoses.

the one in the pic measures 4' high 3' wide and 2' deep. By making the width 5 feet i think i would have plenty of room for 2 chams and big plants throughout.

Sorry on my cellphone it looked like glass
None the less 5 ft. Wide by 4 tall (and by 4 tall were referring to inside enclouser space not stand or hood correct?) And 2 deep. Screened. That's absolutly awsome! I hope u do take it on. It'd be a great project to post here :)

I am actually planning on building something similar. I haven't gotten an exact price on the glass doors (will be installing sliding glass doors), but I'm estimating total project cost to be well under $400.

I will be using marine epoxy to waterproof the inside. My design also includes a lower front panel which will function as a substrate dam, ventilation grid, and support for the sliding door track.

My preliminary sketches are with wooden sides, but I've also been contemplating using glass sides.

right 4' tall just cage size. overall hight including light hood and stand would be around 6 1/2'

i think im going to draw up some 3d plans for it on the computer and see what my friend (with a wood shop) thinks about it. Id need to use him to get this done and looking good.
