what is she trying to communicate with this color pattern?

Nice shot! I think it is tricky since he/she looks young but also getting ready to shed. The shedding might be causing her to be a little irritated giving weird color/patterns. Just a guess--
Can we get a picture of the back heel?

I agree it looks like a female but have been tricked before, since both will show spots before the males get their bands.

So I thought I had posted this in a FB group and have been looking for it EVERYWHERE (ON FB). So, I'm sorry for taking so long to respond!
I've attached some photos of her feet and a bunch of others because I just cannot get over how adorable she is especially the cute ways she sleeps! She did In fact she'd shortly after I posted this.
