WHAT DO I DO? noob, large cage, cold unsatisfactory egg laying chamber

Not doing well

i put her in the trash can 2 days ago and shes not dropping. She just sits on the branch all day. i only checked on her once today and fed her. I have two lights (uvb and basking) is that too many? She has a pothos and a vine in the trash can and the egg laying substrate is sand and dirt.

I didn't see it posted even though I am sure you put it somewhere...how long has she been gravid? Oh, and Brad's advice about digging an example hole might work. That's what my vet told me to do, we dug it about 6 inches and a bit bigger around than her big fat belly and she got the hint. Just make sure it's not going to collapse on her.

She dug in my plant and decided that there was plastic to limit her from going past 4 inches and gave up. That was about 3 days ago and she doesnt even try to dig anymore. She just sits on the branch. She has been eating really well and ive been making her drink by spraying her a little every morning. I dug her an example hole but she wasnt buying it. She has been gravid for a month or so now. Also, she has been inside the trashcan for a week now.

My feeling is that she is not ready yet.
Just keep doing what you're doing and try to be patient.
Have you palpated her at all?
Can you actually feel eggs?

-Brad

Well, i think she looks a lot skinner now. All of the blue and orange coloration is gone. Im assuming that she somehow managed to lay something somewhere. I just decided to put her back into her cage until she starts crawling again. Shes been drinking a lot more than she has in the last month and although she ate every day in the egg laying chamber shes doing that well too. Im really not sure if she has dropped all of the eggs. She looks a little chubby but i cant see bulges like before. Im not sure what to do from here. Continue on as i did when she was pre gravid? A vet visit?

I would say that next thing to do is to start digging; see if you can find those eggs.
As for the female, I would just care for her as you normally would, but leave a nestingbox in her cage until you've confirmed that she layed her eggs.

egg laying

If she is finished laying, she will cover the nesting "cave", and go about her business as if nothing happened! This is the time for lots of rehydration and some silkies as treats!!

She didnt. I searched everywhere to no avail. I took her out and removed 1 bucket of the 50sand/50 potting soil mixture and added 2 bags of potting soil(bucket size) then i made it so she had everything she needed so i wouldnt have to go and check on her. If anyone wants to see just IM me on AIM and ill connect u to the webcam.
