What could this be?

So Socrates has what looks like some white growth or substance covering his left nostril. I have no idea what this could be...

I wiped it gently with a wet paper towel but it still doesnt look the same as the right nostril

Here are some before and after i wiped it.

My male had his first yesterday. It is a salt buildup being excreted. I just used my nail to pick it off and it came right off. Maybe the wet paper towel moistened and sealed some in there. It should work it's way out. Just be careful if your cham has any difficulty in breathing. Then it may be troublesome.

Looks like dead skin from recent shed. I have removed with tweezers before, to clear nostril. But use caution. Chameleon will want to wiggle his head right into the tweezers. Might have better luck removing, if you quickly grab it while cham is sleeping.

I'm thinking a wet Qtip is safer than tweezers.

If it comes back, try switching to distilled or Reverse Osmosis purified water.
