What causes problems?

So i just got back from out of town for a few days, my friend took care of my veiled for me while i was gone and i came home to my happy healthy chameleon doing fine. he was low on food so i made a trip to local shop to get some super worms, horns and crickets but when i was at the shop i seen some chameleons in the cages that they had recently gotten in not looking to healthy. i go to this pet shop because i know they take care of their animals. so my question is what causes things like mouth rot and other problems with chameleons and how can i prevent my cham from getting any problems or is there no way to ensure things like that don't happen? does it come down to daily care, cleanliness and nutrition? if so im on it but even in the best of conditions can chams get illnesses/diseases because its in their genes like humans? or is that what healthy breeders and good bloodlines ensure?

Usually problems arias out of poor husbandry, but I know for a fact that sometimes they just get sick, and sometimes they just drop dead for no apparent reason. The more we learn about them the better we get, but ultimately in my humble opinion it's just the nature of the beast. I have kept male veiled chameleons for as long as 9 years. And I have had a female just drop dead on me for no reason just like that.

Don't even get me started on Jacksons. So in conclusion don't look at it as taking care of a pet look at it as an adventure we are always learning.

very true thats all this whole thing we call life is, a giant adventure of learning. thanks for reply

cleanliness

I think a big part is cleanliness. Clean cages, clean hands, clean bug keepers, fresh water, etc.

They pet shop might have gotten some recent imports. Sometimes when they're imported they go through some pretty rough times.
