What are the signs when a female panther is ready to lay eggs. pics would help alot. i just dont want her to get egg bound because i didnt know the signs.

The first sign I usually see is that she will stop accepting food and hang around the lower parts of her cage. Mine will also turn a little darker in color. I also leave a laying bin in with her at all times just to be safe. She has laid 3 fertile clutches so far from a mating in oct 2009. She is in her egg laying mode right now infact so I expect a fourth clutch any day now.

I will try and get a pic for you.

I went to see if I could snap a picture but could not find her so I gave up. She may be in her laying bin at the bottom of her tunnel so better leave her alone for now.

The first page of this thread, I posted a pic of my female. I found out later that she was definitely carrying eggs but did not like the laying bin I had for her so she dropped her first clutch on the floor of her cage. At the end of the same thread I have pics of the new laying bin that she has laid 2 subsequent clutches in and is starting to dig for a 3rd.

Another thing to look for is.... My females always sleep hanging on the screen in a funny/diff position for a night or two before hand. Congrats and good luck with the eggs!!!!

gravid colours (darker - mine are often black with orange)
Rotund belly
Restless, moving around the cage more than usual, especially at the bottom
might reduce food intake (might not)
digs in the laying bin you should always have available

Here is a photo of one of mine not long before she laid her eggs
