Are you talking about adult breeding pairs, or separation of babies?

I remove the male from the females cage (or visa versa) immediately once they finish mating.

I begin sorting babies into like-sized smaller groups after the first month, and by or before the fourth month all are individually housed (some sooner than others, if they grow quickest and/or are bullies)
