They can start to produce eggs as early as 6 months.

i bought her from a pet store so i have no idea how old she might be

however, she is about 4" long not including tail

with tail id say about 8"

anyone know around how old that would make her?

Can't say exactly because they do grow at different rates depending on various factors, but I'd guess around 6 months.

A female can lay eggs as early as 4 or 5 months but it depends on her size and weight to some extent and on her husbandry as to when she will start laying them.

If you provide her with a proper place in the cage to dig she will/should let you know when she needs to lay eggs.

i placed a plant pot 12" wide/deep filled with play sand with the "practice tunnel" as directed

how deep wide should this tunnel be?

About 10 inches deep and 2.5 inches wide. They usually dig to the bottom and up against the side.
