At what age will a female veiled cham start to lay eggs. since every cham seams to lay eggs even when not mated.

It is possible for them to cycle a clutch of infertiles from about 6 months of age. Amy has had a laying bin in her cage since that age and she is now 16 months and hasn't laid a clutch yet. My first female was 14 months before she laid any eggs - then she laid tow enormous clutches of infertiles.
Food and temps play a bit part in the size of clutches. Check out the info on this site - it's very helpful! Although I have the temps right for Amy, I have not been so strict with the food intake part as I should have been, and I now think she is going to lay her first clutch very soon. http://raisingkittytheveiledchameleon.blogspot.com/

From all the research ive done i dont believe its possible to stop egg production in female panthers. You can reduce the size of clutches by not overfeeding though. Females are designed to lay eggs. They just arent able to handle these overly large clutches that we see in captive females.
I have been able to stop veileds from laying eggs but I can only seem to lower the clutch size in the panthers. Someone someday might figure out how to stop them.
There was a study done starting in 2007 with veileds that was started due to the reproductive issues and with the hope that there could be a birth control method found. There was a lot learned about the hormone levels but the study did not result in a birth control method. Hopefully someone will continue working on it!
