What age can i feed roaches

Texas Panther Man

I recently got a small colony of 100 dubias. I ordered the large nymphs I don't think they are quite full grown breeding size. So my question is at what age can i start feeding these to my panther. His hatch date was Nov 09 i think. So hes about 3.5 month. I've never fed these before so i wanted to get some info from people with prior exp.

you can feed now if you want just pick the correct size nymphs. If you want to get a colony going then youll have to wait awhile but if you just ordered 100 and they arent all adults then itll take way to long so just start feeding them off.

Large nymphs as in 1 - 1 1/2 inch plus? Can't feed those to a baby :) I'd go ahead and order about 30-50 females and a few males just to get the colony going.

So 100 isnt enuff? I have only one cham at the present time. I am in no hurry to get the colony going. I will feed crix & horns until they start producing. With the occ silk also. I would say without measuring one that they are in the 1 to 1 1/2 '' range. How big do they get before the females will produce?

They are very easy to sex once they arent nymphs anymore but if you only have the large ones that are over an inch I wouldnt feed those to a chameleon that young. The males have wings and the females are darker and have a sort of armor look to their backs. They will start reproducing a month or so after they molt into adults. I would wait until they have some new nymphs before feeding

So 100 should be plenty right? I don't want to spend another 39 bux for roaches. I just have the one cham. I will be adding another but not until i find a faly female.

100 is plenty, but it might take a while for them to molt into adults and start reproducing. The new born nymphs are a good older baby food. About 1/4 of an inch long.
