If my chameleon is outside basking and I mist her with the hose cause she was gaping( we didn't stay out long I just steam cleaned real quick) but she was fine after I Mister and continued basking, wouldn't the water droplets magnify the sun rays and cause Burns?? Same as misting in the cage and the basking light?

I've never had bother misting under the basking light. If Teal'c ever gapes its because she's too hot and always sitting under the light when it happens. I just go give her a good long spray and she gets soaked and has a big drink. Then she stops gaping so I figure it cools them down.

A cham's skin isn't THAT delicate. What can be a problem for a car's paint (if you wash the car in the sun) is a totally different thing for a living creature's skin. Probably the main reason chams get burned under basking lights is because the tightly focused beam of a bulb creates more heat at a close distance than the sun would outdoors, and a captive cham may end up sitting directly under the bulb longer than a wild one would sit out in the sun. They spend most of their time in dappled shade, not full sun.
