Went on vacation and Cham is a shade of white

Hey guys, So I left on vacation on Friday. Both chams were watered and feed. I told my mom, (who was supposed to be watching/taking care of them) what to do as far as misting and feeding, supplements, cleaning ect. When I got home yesterday Levis cage was bone dry and the dripper was full but turned off. He looked like a shade of white. I don't think that he is gonna shed BUT I could be wrong. Last night when I got home the first thing I did was check on them and it was 55 degrees in his cage! I immediatly turned the heat up in my room and put him under the basking light. When I opened his cage and started to mist he actually started to drink from the bottle. I am pretty upset about this cause I was very worried about leaving him (and Calliope) in the care of someone other than me. But I was told, "Don't worry so much, everything is gonna be fine." I am gonna post a couple pictures of him and see what you guys are thinking. I'm sure he is dehydrated so I am goin to be (trying) to give him a 20 minute shower. He is moving around and nothing really unusual about him other than the whiteness all over him? If you need me to I will fill out the :How to ask for help form.

He looks fine! So did your mom feed and water him like she was supposed to?
or did you find out differently?

I am pretty sure she fed them right. BUT the misting not so sure. UGH It just makes me sick. I just bought a misting system last week and it hasnt arrived yet. I think she misted them once maybe twice a day and it was probably done in the morning and in the evening. I personally mist a couple times in the morning and afternoon and they have a dripper available all day. It usually runs out about when they go to bed. I hope he is ok. I just called around and did find a vet just in case. I would takin in out in the sun but its only 60ish degrees out.

He looks good to me too. If giving a shower would make you feel better it wont hurt. May be give him a extra treat at feeding time ;)

yep i would say he is looking good, as suggested maybe a nice treat like a big ole hornworm would be good they are great for hydration as well.
leaving your chams behind with someone else is always so hard. i made a very detailed instruction sheet for each day of the weeek and leave it with whoever is looking after my guys..
but they still have to remember to follow it

So you guys don't think he looks dehydrated? I was just assuming because of how bone dry his cage was and how he acted when I misted the cage. That puts me at ease a little!! Hes acting normal its just the whiteness I'm concerned about. Is there any specific illness/virus that makes them almost lose thier brightness.? maybe he is gonna shed soon but usually it starts on his spikes and they become white like whiteout.

he looks good, have u seen a poo yet? i dont know of anything besides a shed or overheated that ever seems to make my guys go very pale. how are the temps now?

If he has access to a dripper for most of the day, only one or two mistings (a day) should be fine if he doesn't have any other issues.

Dont worry too much about it.

He hasn't poo'd sice I have left but that is normal. He usually only goes every 3/4 days. So he is due for a poo. The temps are good now mid 80's for basking and 75 for ambient. He is quite mobile aswell so maybe I am just stressing about it.

Is a fogger the right choise for the screen cage? can the cham actually drink from the fogger apart from the dripping system?

I personally don't use a fogger, but I have seen people who use them along WITH a dripper. No a cham can't drink from a fogger it just adds to the humidity level. You might want to start your own thread about this though to get more advice.

He is doin good guys!! Thanks for the concern and the reassurance!! I know he was really cold when I had got home but I have had the heat cranked in my room so they are both loving it! He is just as mobile as ever, cruising around his entire cage. He still looks like the color is not as bright as usual. so maybe is getting ready to shed or something. Usually though when he is about to shed it gets really solid white (like white out) and its gone within a day.
