Weird black spot on side

For the last few days, I noticed that my veiled chameleon has this weird black mark on his side. Is this just coloring, or something worse?

Hi, the spot doesnt alarm me but i would keep an eye on it. Vet time if you see it growing.

ataraxia, could that be a burn mark from getting too close to a UVB or basking light?

It looks to me like it could be a burn, but I'm not entirely sure. Can he get close to any of the bulbs?

It's possible that it could be a burn mark. Should I try to put Neosporin on it?

It is possible but personally i dont think so. If the basking spot has been the same up to this point. His casque and dorsal ridge would have been affected by now. The spot doesnt appear to be a thermal burn either.
