weird behavior

i accidentally brushed one of my fingers against my chams tail today when I was trying to get him to eat another butterworm (apparently he hates them), and as I expected, that caused him to take off instead of just sitting there staring at my hand.

but instead of stressing and hiding, he suddenly turned his very bright yellow green shade (he rarely turns that bright, unless he's really hungry and sees his favirote food or something) and ran up to his branch that's about eye level with me, and just sat there. why would he react like that?

Anytime my hand goes in the cage for cleaning, feeding, etc. my panther fires up everytime. He won't run unless he thinks I'm reaching in to grab him for a vet visit or something. Otherwise he just sits at the top fires-up and stares me down too. I think it's pretty normal.

lol @ camshaft, that's a disturbing thought.

I knew it wasn't a serious issue or anything, I was just really curious about it. that's pretty interesting, though, i guess he was challenging me, I can't think of any other explanation. its funny, too, because he's so timid, I've never seen him flare his neck or gape once, even when he was "challenging" me just before he wasn't posturing at all.
