?Waterproof?

My friend is making me a cage for my Cham. I was wondering if anyone knows of a waterproofing/clear coat? Something that is good and works but doesn't cost an are and a leg? I found a kind that is $10 a can but I will need about 4 or 5 cans. If I have to I will. Just want to see if anyone knows of anything? Thank you.

A water based wood sealer such as polyurethane will work. Oil-based sealers will need to be completely cured before you can use them, as the oils will produce fumes until they cure.

Delta Ceramcoat does the job. Its awesome, cures fast and does not have any odour when it dries.
