water

do your chameleons drink from a water bottle or off the leaves? my chameleon refuses to drink of the leaves. he always drinks from a water bottle. he wont drink from a dripper either. when he sees the water bottle even outside his cage when im about to water him, he looks at the water bottle like hes about to eat it! i think he knows that there is water in there?!
one time i saw him drink from a water dish, but that was only once.

I think once a cham learns where water can be found they will continue to go to that type of source. Is this a water bottle used for mice, rats or Guinea pigs? They often drip slowly or have drops hanging from the tube so I can see why. Some chams never use drippers very reliably, others insist on dripping leaves, some learn to drink from a hand held dropper, and some learn to drink out of a dish. The only chams I've known who drank out of dishes were those who got seriously dehydrated in an improper setup (some quads in a terrible pet shop who licked constantly at a bowl) and learned to drink that way out of desperation. I had a verrucosus who would drink out of my hand if I offered it to him once he had started swallowing from misting. They are individuals.

The important thing is, you know how he prefers to get his water and can take advantage of it.
