The water on the bottom of my cage is driving me crazy. I have read most people create a draining system but I would like to avoid it if possible. Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe there is something I can put on the bottom of the cage to collect or absorb the water? pleeeeeaaase help

You will eventually need a drain, it's kind of impossible to avoid this. It might be a pain but it's cheaper and cleaner in the long run.

I don't believe it does, unless you make a drainage system; which is why I believe that making a drainage system is unavoidable.

I just wanted to add how I do my water drip system because I have my chameleon in a glass vivarium its not possible to drill a hole for drainage.

So what I did was take a large dog water dish (12in diameter, 4in deep) and a water pump, with some Tupperware that I flipped upside down and fit into the dog bowl. I cut holes for the tubes and hoses in the Tupperware and covered the top with glass/gravel so there is no exposed water for my chameleon or my feeders to down in. I then strung the water tube up to the top of the cage closing off the end but poking some drip holes with a pin. That is the minimum drip system but you will have to change the water often because poop can fall in. So what I did was use a small cottage cheese container which houses the pump with a hole cut in the side so I can slip a fish tank filter in between the pump and the hole so it funnels the water though the filter. Over all its a pretty good system as it filters itself so you don't have to constantly change out the water.

What about using simple sponges to mop up the water? Get several and keep them in a bucket near the cage. Use them, squeeze the water into the bucket and empty as needed.

A turkey baster is a simple way of removing the excess water from a drainage tray. Just know that you will have to do a deep clean every couple weeks because things tend to get down in there and you want to avoid that kind of soup.

I have a friend that uses a wet/dry vacuum.

Another simple drainage method if you are a bit handy is to use an adapter for 1/4" drip systems to install in the tray as a drain. (Seal with silicone of course) then you can install a 1/4" black drip tubing to it which leads to a bucket that you can empty on a regular basis.

My potted ficus is in a plastic tray and I use a turkey baster to draw the water when it gets full. I use paper towels on the bottom

Could use whatever drip system you have and under it place a bowl or something to catch it but have some sort of mesh or even tights covering the top with an elastic band to hold it on. Simple yet effective haha!
