water gel crystal things

What I have done is this....
Get two small 250ml cola bottles, you know the wee plastic crappy juice bottles you get from your local spar*.
Clean them both.
Cut the top, from the FAT of the bottle at the top where it starts to thin into the neck, you will then be left with a CUP for want of a better word.
Now with that CUP, use a knife/craft knife, and find the top of the bottom of the bottle, the part where the bottom starts to taper off into the bottles feet, you want to cut UP the way and create a trap door, bend this flap(dont cut it all the way to the top) down so it looks like a little ramp going up into a sqare hole in the side of your CUP.
Now shove kitchen roll in the bottom of the CUP, and take a small section and run it down the FLAP like a little red carpet type thing. making sure that its firmly planted at one end inside the CUP along with the rest of the kitchen role.
NOW, full the other bottle with water, turn the CUP upside down and site it on top of the water bottle, put some preasure on it and turn it the right way up.
Your then left, with the water bottle, upside down, INSIDE the CUP, the water seeps into the Kitchen roll, and seeps along the strip that you have going down your wee FLAP.
the crickets will drink the water from the flap, and not dorwn. its easy to clean, easy to refill, and safe for the crix.

Yes, and yes. With crickets however make sure whatever you are keeping them in is well ventilated. I actually just use them for roaches and use just lettuce and carrots and potatoes etc... for the crix since the water gel was making the cricket containers to moist and killing the crix.

I use the gel crystals. They work well. I bought them on eBay for a very good price.

Yup, they work very well. They don't get stinky like a sponge, either.
I sell enough dry crystals to make two gallons of gel for $4. It's pretty amazing the first time you make it, too!
BTW, the shipping charge for these is only $2.50 for First Class Mail. Disregard any out of whack estimate by the shopping cart.

yes the crystals will sustain your crickets, but not the best choice by far.
