Waiting for my lighting to come in!

I have just ordered THIS after speaking with Todd! I cannot wait for them to come in! You can adjust them to match lighting in nature (the sun is not just blazing all of a sudden and super bright all day long) and it even has night time LED star-like that you can run for an hour or so once the day lights go out so your cham can see to get to his/her sleeping spot (it is not suddenly pitch dark in nature either). I just cannot wait to get this in! Todd is amazing and very knowledgeable if you have any lighting questions then he is your guy! He is super approachable.

That's great!

I have communicated with Todd and I will be getting one of these lights for my new enclosure as well.:)

Good luck!

I'm just so excited! My light set up now is poor in comparison. It's the best I could do with the money I had left after upgrading the enclosure size. It does the trick, but it will be so much better for my boy with the new lights. Brighter throughout all four feet of the enclosure and more uvb dispersal, plus it will be more natural!

I agree, the quads and the doubles are the way to go! You wouldn't believe the difference in lighting they produce. Everyone should at least have a double fixture with one Arcadia and one daylight bulb. If you want to see some pictures of the difference compared to a normal single T8 bulb shoot me a PM with your email and I can send some over.

I have seen the difference. It's amazing!

Yeah, I'm not sold on any of the Zoo Med stuff. It all seems really cheaply made and they try to sell things that are directed towards every reptile and not specifically chameleons. So you end up getting red and blue lights that you would never use as a chameleon can see them and it would affect them sleeping. They can keep their lights, I'm sticking with higher quality, and better lighting as I want my chameleons to have the best.

The red and blue LED's would be for plant growth. All of the UV comes from the T5. Atleast they went with a half decent reflector for the T5. Doesn't say anything about separate lighting controls. I hope all that light doesn't come on all at one time.

I only saw one plug, but I don't know.

You said it. ;)

There are a few folks on this forum using these LED Jungle Dawn® Grow and Glows.
They do not give off UV B- but are great plant bulbs...
maybe they will post up a pic here??

Now,
For everyone out there looking at LEDs
NO LED light gives off correct UVB for Chams or reptiles. period.

So they must be used with Flo. or Merc vapor UV generating bulbs.

Having said that, LED can be great - IF you get ones with a proper spectrum-- for adding wonderful light for added plant growth and color.

Brad Smith who is into dart frogs did a video on the Grow and Glow and it shows how bright the led is with the EXTRA red and blue diodes for plant growth.

thank you- and I packed it well.
:)
(And I know ALL LYR customers know what that means-- triple cardboard layers and double boxes and about 2 rolls of tape. ha ah aha!
Can I help it if I am OCD about packing lights and bulbs?)

You should have it soon, Steph.

Hey.. and if you wanna show it off and pop a picture up here...so people can see it in action when you get it...
be my guest.
;)

Thank you and everyone on Chameleon forums that has done business (and will do business in the future)
with LYR.
I appreciate you (and your Chams!) very much.

I hope my cRazY feTiSheS with lighting reptiles (and ALL animals) has contributed to your success with your Chams and plants.

That is my goal and also Arcadia's goal.

I have been NutS about lighting reptiles and vivaria since the late 70's.:p

Sincerely,
Todd
