Hey guys quick question bout vitamins. I am told vitamins are a twice to four times a month thing. Well my question is i know that with humans that if your not taking them regularly (every day) that they are not effective so why does this not apply to chameleons. Thx guys for any responses and come on make me feel dumb for asking:confused:

I question your basic assumption. Even taking a multivitamin once a month will be helpful.

You should be providing the majority of what your chameleon needs via its prey (gutloading a variety of feeders). The vitamin supplement is just SUPPLEMENTARY - just in case something wasnt provided in sufficient amounts.

The same thing applies to humans. Eat properly, and you have little to no need for taking vitamins. (unfortunately, very few people even know how to eat properly, much less choose to do it)

Taking NO vitamins all month, then taking a LOT at once, is not going to do you as much good as taking a smaller, daily-appropriate amount, daily.

Same with chams, and like Sandra said, this should be provided primarily through a proper gutload/feeder variety, then you give the supplement just in case.

You are correct in your initial assumption.

Oh, and eat healthier! And take your frakkin vitamins!!!!!!!!

Thank you for the info. I gut load my crickets with fresh fruits and veggies everyday so i know that they are good to go. I picked up a vitamin supplement that has d3 in it also I figured that would be cool since i am not giving it to them frequently.
