vets near Boca? Semi urgent

Hi my four month old male panther chameleon seems to have what looks to be a small prolapse or it could be his hemipenes. He has had this issue since 11am and now it’s 5pm and there still out…I’m looking into vets near Boca Raton Florida but I’m willing to drive far if it’s best. Please if you know any ones that are good with panther chameleons I would appreciate it.

This doesn't just happen to chams. I'd be searching for any vet who sees herps. In the mean time, push hydration and keep things moist! It might be enough it retracts by itself.

I don’t know of any emergency vets for reptiles in Florida. I have been seeing these Veg ER popping up around the place and they do say they take reptiles. Plenty of sites all across the US. https://www.veg.com/locations/florida
While it won’t necessarily help you now, I do know of two great reptile vets, both in central Florida. He’s mostly retired, but does do one day a week at a clinic in Kissimmee…Dr Bogoslavsky. Then he has a mobile clinic and does house calls in Orlando area, but does have clinic days at some pet stores every few weeks…Dr Alfonso. Attaching info that I have for both. Another option is Orlando Exotic Vet https://orlandoexoticveterinarian.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=gbp_orlando who is okay (and I’d rate higher if they would stop thinking that chameleons need to be soaked for hydration). For now do keep the prolapsed tissue moist with a water-based lubricant like KY jelly. To try to reduce the prolapse, you could soak his bum in some sugar water to help shrink it. Once you’ve got it resolved, we’d be more than happy to review your husbandry to see if there’s something a bit off that could have caused the problem.

Thank you I put some of the jelly on him to keep it moist. You mentioned reviewing husbandry what husbandry issues normally causes this? I’ve done some research and I saw dehydration and stress. From what I know I’m pretty sure my humidity is good and I’ve had him for a little more than a month so stress could be an issue. But otherwise thanks. Also would you happen to know how long the jelly would last Before it should be reapplied

I’m far from an expert, but I believe diet, hydration, humidity levels would be the primary factors. Supplements could also play a role. Anything that could cause not just dehydration, but constipation as well. Poor shedding could be another suspect - having difficulty shedding hemipenal plugs. Then of course, there’s always genetics to consider.
