Vet experience in Kansas?

I looked and searched the forum and couldn't find anything on this location specifically Topeka/Kansas City/Manhattan, Kansas area.

Does anyone have experience with Marguerite Ermeling at Gentle Care Animal Hospital? I see her on the sources listed here, but my personal vet that I've used all my life hasn't heard of them. Since they are only half hour away, it concerns me a little that they haven't heard of them before. I'm trying to get a fecal exam done, and my normal vet (dogs and cats) said they would send it off to Kansas State University Vet school, which is only about 45 minutes away so I could potentially take it to them, but I don't know that they have much more experience. I do know they are a learning vet school which could be good, but I don't want Merlin to be there "guinea pig" either.

Thanks,

Kansas Veterinary School does have an Exotic and Zoo Animal Medicine Department. Dr Carpenter lists exotic parasites as an interest. I think their department is more geared to exotic mammals though. I'm sure they would be able to do a simple fecal exam for parasites on a chameleon. The parasites we see in reptiles are similar enough to what we see in cat and dogs and livestock that really any vet with an interest could run one. Its not rocket science.

I'm in Kansas City. I took my Jax to Crysler Animal Clinic in Independence, Mo. Dr Sweitzer is the exotic vet there, and he seems to be a good vet. He is only in M-W-F, so call ahead to get appointments. I found their prices to be very reasonable - $60 to $80 for a visit, $20 for a fecal check. Medicines were also reasonable, usually $20 to $30.

There is also an exotics vet Kansas City Veterinary Care in the Waldo area of Kansas City, but I haven't been there.

Herpvetconnection.com has a long list of herp/reptile vets. You have a number to choose from in the area.
