veiled sex questions

Hi, I am new to this forum. About 4 months ago I purchased a baby veiled, which looked to be about a month old at the time. It was sold to me as a male and I have been referring to the baby as a male since. But I am now convinced that the baby I bought as a male is actually a female. I see no signs at all of the spurs that I have been told should have been present at birth. Are there other ways to tell the sex? Also, if baby is in fact a female, when should I plan to put a nesting box in her habitat? I used to breed bearded dragons and so am aware of what can happen if a female reptile doesn't have a proper nesting place, I don't want that to happen to this little one!

Find Jannbs blog. she has a blog on new cham owners as well as laying bins. female veileds can lay eggs as early as 6 months. if you post a pic of the back of the back feet, we can tell you for sure if its male or female.

Here you go, thank you for the help!

Thank you all. Jannb, I have read your blog and am going to save it to my computer for future reference, it will come in very handy. You say you use a trash can, right? Would I be able to use a large rubbermaid tub so that I can keep it in the house easier? I apologize if you mentioned that and I just missed it.

Yes, you can use anything that you can get her to lay in. These girls are picky.

Good to know...I hope she doesn't start anytime soon, but when the time comes I want to have everything prepared

If you put an opaque container about 12" deep x 12" x 8" filled with washed playsand in her cage and leave it there she will always have a place to dig to show you she's ready to lay eggs. She might even lay them in that container.
