I keep reading all different types of basking temperatures and things for veileds ranging from 80-95. I want to make sure i have the best proven temps and would like some insight from proven owners. I have a cage that is screen top and front that is 58'' long 42'' tall and 12'' deep. I have 2 5.0 UVB bulbs in the center and a basking spot on each end with 40W bulbs that keep the temps around the low to mid 80's 83-86 under the basking spot. I keep the humidity at 50-60% and have a dripper for drinking along with misting several times a day. I have a video im posting but i took the night bulb out of the left side and put the 40W bulb in and the right side basking light was replaced with a 40W bulb. i have screen over the water catch bin. Please help me out with all of this confusion.

Also....

If i get a veiled female do i still have to worry about eggs and all even if im not going to breed her? Fill me in. I got a female friday by accident i wanted a male but she is super sweet and loving my cage.

When they are young they need to bask at a lower temp and females need to always stay cooler. Female can and often do lay eggs with some starting as early as 5 months old if over fed. I have a couple of my blogs that will help you out. The first is general care with a special section at the bottom for females and the second is about egg laying and the laying bin.
