Veiled changing colors after shedding?

Ms. Gizmo just shed for the second time since we brought her home. She's usually light green with white bars/spots to maybe darker green with yellow bars/spots. Today after she shed she turned the darkest blue/green we'd seen and then pure black over white. Is this normal? And while we're on the subject, about what age does a veiled usually start reaching mature coloration? We've had her almost two months and I guess she's about 6-8 months now. She measures 10" nose to tail-tip. Everything else seems normal, drinking, eating, sleeping. I recently changed her basking light to stay off all night after reading some others' posts. Here are pix from (1) 2 weeks ago, (2) shedding this morning, and (3) hiding with darkened coloration.

They turn to a darker hue in order to absorb more heat. Sometimes you'll see one side almost black and the other very light colored.

Ok, so then since I just changed the lighting schedule down to less hours, she is trying to compensate? Makes sense. Right now she is just a dark green with yellow marks. Looks more normal for her now. Thanks.

Why did you change the lightin schedule?

Why did you change the lightin schedule?

The basking light was staying on too long, most of the night. As I was reading posts, I realized that this was wrong so I changed the timers to go off around dark and come back on around sunrise. Then I set the basking light to go on and off every 1.5 hours because it seemed too hot. The other light was staying on most of the day. I guess I was afraid of her getting cold at night. She'd gotten used to that and didn't like the change where she was in the dark! Now she has changed back to her normal coloration and seems to be acting normally so far.

Since it is summer, depending on how warm it gets in your house, you may not een needing your basking bulb right now. I currently dont use my baskiing bulb at all, just my uvb, but because my guy is still a baby, temps around 80-90 are fine for him. BTW- they like a 10-15 degree drop at night for sleeping anyway!

Glad she has changed back!
