Veiled chameleon surgery

Sam's George

Hi my cham George has recently had surgery (3 days ago) he had a blockage and the vet could not clear it with sedation & soft tube so decided to operate, george had 1 ovary with a large cyst & 1 testicle which is very rare this took up his stomach hence the bloating. At this time he hadnt eaten for 2 wks. They successfully performed the surgery & he is home now, looking very well (good colour & hydrated) however he is not showing any interest in his food at all, I manage to get him to have small amounts of carnivore care. Any advice would be really helpful please, he's back on tue for a check up. Thank you.

This is the first time I've heard of a chameleon with one ovary and one testicle.
I hope he does well with his recovery.
The only suggestion I have for getting him to eat is to get him drinking and then slip a cricket BETWEEN his teeth...or whatever his favorite insect is.

It's the first time we've come across it too & the vet said its not very common. That sounds a good idea, I will give that a try when I get him out of his cage. Thank you

[/QUOTEwe have been to a specialist reptile vet and its def not impossible, the surgery has been done and the removal along with further investigations. He is still under the vet as it is major surgery. They def know what they are talking about.

I think its more you are blessed with one or the other, not one of each. There are plenty of human males with ovaries and human females with testicles. To the point it gets very confusing for the olympics. But they never have one of each.
Sorry I mean t to reply to thread further down.
