Veiled Chameleon Sex

would anyone be able to help me identify the sex of my veiled cham? I got it from petsmart 2 months ago and I assumed it was a boy but now I'm really not sure. I estimating the age to be around 4-6 months and my issue is that it has a tiny little heel spur but every male cham ive seen it is just MUCH more prominent. Like my chams is barely visible and sometimes it isnt at all when the foot isn't laying flat on something.

Is it a male with a small spur or a female with chubby feet?

I’m going to say that you have a little girl. In addition to the heel not being prominent enough, there’s no trace of male coloring in your pics plus no trace at all of any hemipenal bulge.

Interesting I was leaning more towards a male, it does look like a tiny spur. Do you have side view of the total chameleon? I would like a good look at the head as well if possible.

It is a female. Full chameleon picture or head pic does not make a difference with a Veiled chameleon. You can tell clearly with the spurs on the back of the back feet. Second clearly female sign is that this cham has no bulge at all at the tail base. Totally thin tail base indicates female.

This is what a tarsal spur looks like... First pic is a 3 month old male. Second and third pic is a 6 month old male.

thank you so much! when I first got her I was very confused on the sex so I figured I'd wait till she got bigger because well thats what it said online. now im at the point of I know that if it is a girl she is gonna start wanting to lay eggs soon and I really do not want her to go egg bound simply because I mis-assumed her gender!

thank you so much! that was another thing that confused me because her colors aren't vibrant but I just chalked that up to the possibility of age and development.

I’ve got 2 males, but the few females I’ve seen had a less prominent “spur”-like look to them than the photos OP gave.
