Veiled chameleon puffed throat?

Was doing homework and I looked over and seen my juvenile chameleons throat big and puffed like he had just eaten a cricket but I fed him earlier, just curious as to what this means or what he's doing when he does this.

I have the same question regarding if the mouth was open or not.

Is it possible you could fill this form out so we can get a better idea on what kind of set-up you have and the specific care of your chameleon? :)

Pictures are always helpful as well! Perhaps you snapped one earlier when he was doing this.

Sorry forgot to include that info, his mouth was not opened, he is a juvenile I'm not sure the terminology but I've had him a month and a half or so, he is a veiled chameleon, I have him housed in a glass terrarium for now, I feed him crickets daily and dust with calcium and d3 once a week or so, I make sure the tank is at the right temp and humidity, I spray water in the cage 3 times a day and I have the proper lighting fixtures :) I think that's about everything

Mind you this is simply my opinion, from what I have seen through out my Chameleon years. You said you put Him in a glass enclosure AND you also said his mouth was not open nor had he eat just then....
Okay well it sounds like he saw something he didnt like or he saw his own reflection. He's a young male, doing exactlly what he's supposed to do while growing up.
I would not worry about his poop. :)

I agree this is the likely cause... Just keep an eye on him to make sure there are no other suspicious symtoms.

alright cool, thanks for the info and advice :D im new at caring for chameleons, ive had reptiles in the past as pets but none that required care such as veiled's:p

Hello. It's great to see a new cham owner asking questions.
A varied diet of well fed feeders is the best way to go.
Supplements for veiled chams are typically best done as:
Calcium without D3 daily
Calcium with D3 2x a month
Multivitamin 2x a month

Too much D3 or vitamin supplement is bad.
Too few supplements--especially too little calcium is bad.

You will probably find these forum caresheets very helpful, since they contain lots of reliable information:
https://www.chameleonforums.com/care/chameleons/

In the wild--and in chams exposed to at least an hour a day of natural sunlight (not sunlight passing through glass)---chams' bodies actually produce their own vitamin D3 up to the amount that they actually need.
Their bodies actually slow down their D3 production when they have enough natural D3 in their systems.
Indoor chams need 2x a month D3 to ensure that they have enough D3 in their bodies.
The UVB lights do help them to make some D3 but the supplement is a bit of insurance.
Vitamin D3 is essential for a chameleon to be able to actually use the calcium that it takes in. Without it, bones soften and a condition called MBD sets in.
Too much D3 added to the diet results in calcium being deposited in vital organs--impairing their functioning.
There also needs to be a certain balance of D3 to vitamin A.
Too much supplemental D3 upsets this balance, in addition to the other issues it causes.

This is a very basic summary but hopefully it gets the idea across.

be careful with glass tanks ive noticed that they can get to hot in them and that might also be a reason hes doing that
