Veiled Chameleon not eating

Hi All,

Haven't been on here for a long time!

My chameleon is now approx year and half old. Photos below, sorry about their quality!

I work full time and have always stocked him up with food - crickets / locust before leaving for work, I'd occasionally see him start on the food before I left. Now I haven't personally seen him eat for 3/4 months, I know he has been because the food was disappearing. Recently however I don't think he's eating much if anything. He seemed to go off crickets and locust, they would just sit in his cage and I'd have to keep removing them. To try and find something he liked I moved onto mealworms, he seemed to take to them for a while but I think he's now gone off them. I've tried back on crickets and locust and he just shows no interest in them at all

The photo above shows him puffed up so not the most helpful but he's definitely loosing weight.

My UV tube is changed every 6 months, temp is same as it always has been.

Any Ideas or thoughts on what may be the problem?

Thanks

Simon

Veiled chams eat all the time and it can sometimes happen that they are just too full-they dunno when to stop. Try not to give him anything but water for a few days and then he should start eating again. Healthy animal won't mind one week without food.
It could be this if you fed him every day- such a big boy needs to be fed every other day or to have at least one day a week without food.

I have the same problem at the mo with Ziggy my year old male Veiled Chameleon. Think he's just fed up with locusts and he won't even look at crickets so I have ordered up some cockroaches to see what he thinks of them. He's off mealworms but can't get enough of wax worms but I limit them to a treat.
Will try the "Don't feed for 24hrs" method and get back to you all.

Try posting those pics again. Give him some hornworms or let some BSFL hatch in his enclosure! Or even better, go outside and catch some dragon flies. My chams absolutely loose their mind when I turn some loose in their cage. They will charge the door if they see them coming before I get the door open.

You would get tired of eating the same thing every day for a year too!

Lol this thread is from 2009. Doubt the original poster will repost those photos...
