Veiled Chameleon hanging out at the bottom of his enclosure

Cairo the veiled chameleon is acting a bit strange. He is super active, trying to get out and he will hang out at the bottom of his enclosure. I did just upgrade him and Kato to a 2x2x4 enclosure and he seems to be okay most of the time, but sometimes he will go all the way to the bottom and circle trying to get out. There is a barrier between their enclosures do he can’t see into Kato’s enclosure or outside the window.
Does anyone have any idea what this may be? Is this normal veiled behavior or should I change anything?

Just some background info - The humidity and basking spot are all on point. I may just be comparing the two chams behaviors and worrying too much lol. Kato always hangs out at the top of his enclosure during the day and sleeps in his palm tree.

Cairo seems to move around much more than Kato, and sleeps at the very top of the enclosure at night.

The last photo, I saw him at the bottom of the enclosure, and I was refilling their feeding glasses. He looked interested but when I put the bowl inside the enclosure, he didn't go for any of them. He doesn’t walk on the actual bottom but just the sides of the cage.

Those tiny chams eat those giant worms?? Do you put the glasses with their food up by their basking branches? They need to be placed somewhere just below their basking branches where they will see the bugs. As far as him checking out the bottom of the cage, maybe he’s just exploring but I’m not a veiled expert.

That cup is for my Panther (Kato), who is much bigger! I just let him look inside the cups to see if he was interested but he just turned around and walked the other way. 😅

Such a cutie... Well I will tell you from one cham to another behaviors are different. Especially between a Panther and a Veiled. As long as temps and humidity are on point then I do not see anything wrong with baby wandering. Temps should be no hotter then 80 at basking with low 70's for ambient and humidity should sit in the 30-50% range during the day.

Cage is set up correctly and has plenty of plants. Correct lighting as well. Only question... Is there any place they can see one another? Looks like it does not have a solid side all the way down.

Perfect! I do make sure it’s not too hot for sure. I had to change the wattage to the bulb down but it stays around 80-85 at the hottest.

At the very bottom, they probably could see each other but Kato doesn’t go down there so I’m not sure if he’s maybe seeing the pots and the other enclosure and trying to go check it out? Right now he’s on the side trying to look past the felt but he wouldn’t be able to see much since there is foliage blocking his view. Maybe he’s just a nosy guy? 🤣🤣

LOL ok get yourself a solid panel to go between them completely.

Veileds get pissy and territorial. So you want to limit him being able to see the Panther as much as possible lol.

As he matures he is going to pace his cage quite a bit and this is normal. He seems a little young for it now though so I am guessing he senses or sees the other one.

Thank you so much!! I’ll work on getting a panel that fits the whole side of the enclosure! For now, I’ll find something else to block his view! 😁
