Veiled Chameleon Breeding?

ISA my Veiled

Hey everyone, I was just curious if there is a somewhat of a "guide" to breeding that anyone has blogged on here. I really want to get into breeding, and i am extremely interested in chameleons. I currently have just one Veiled Chameleon and 9 other reptiles. They are my hobby and I love them very much. But before I even think about taking on such a task, I really want to study and do my research and get everything correct so that I can do it safely for my Female and actually cause the least amount of stress possible. I will not be starting to breed anytime soon, maybe in the next 6 months or year. But if anyone could point me in the correct direction as far as breeding goes it would be very appreciated. I have done all my research for the most part about veiled chameleons.

Thank you for your help! :)

theres no blog i dont think..
but ask any questions you have and we can try to answer.

i currently have 38 veiled eggs incubating from my pair.

Ok well you wont be able to breed her until she is at least a year old.

and keep in mind, females can retain sperm.

so if you breed her, and she lays, she can lay again several months later.

also, if you dont keep her food and basking temp in check, you can end up with a large clutch of eggs. and the more eggs... the more babies you have to feed.

each baby can eat 20 bugs a day.

Yeah I am going to wait until I have both a male and her of age. I have heard of the retainment of the sperm through a few things i have looked at. Yeah feeding sounds brutal lol, my Female right now is eating about 6-8 crickets a day, i believe three week old crickets. A Thing about the basking temp, she loves to sit in the middle on her stick about 8-12 inches below the basking temp which is at about 84 when i checked it. So should i be limiting that for her or what do you typically do?

well depending on how long you want to wait, my babies will be ready for new homes in februrary. ;)

As for female care-

I keep my females basking temp no higher than 83. once she hit 6 months, i fed her 4 bugs a day, then at 8 months changed it to 4-5 bugs every other day.

at 6 months, youll want to put a lay bin in her cage at all times, since they can lay without having been bred.

any questions you can think of right now?

Lol if they are cheaper than PetCO that would be terrific and I would definitely buy one then anyone just to have another :) How much do you sell for? We should keep in touch.
And thank you so much for answer that one without me asking about when to put her lay bin in because I was worried about that. So is my temperature probably good at her age right now or should i try to tone it down. I mean i don't think that the one degree would do significant things to her. And okay It seems i tend to over feed then, but she eats them all so that confuses me a little bit. And thank you Reptilove i appreciate the link. I will read over it for sure ;)

lol the second made me chuckle. Thank you for the information I really appreciate it, I know what i will be doing tonight, NOTES, NOTES, and more notes.
